BLP strengthens City construction with Ashurst partner hire

04/10/2011

Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has hired Ashurst\'s non-contentious construction head as its new head of engineering, construction and procurement.

Marc Hanson is set to join BLP later this year, replacing current practice head John Hughes-D\'Aeth, who will remain at the firm.

Before joining Ashurst as a partner in 2006, Hanson was head of non-contentious construction at CMS Cameron McKenna.

His experience includes advising clients on procurement routes for complex construction projects and in drafting and negotiating all forms of construction documentation including building contracts, consultancy appointments, bonds, guarantees and warranties. His most recent projects include major urban regeneration projects including the Westfield shopping malls in White City and Stratford.

BLP real estate head Robert MacGregor added: \"We aim to provide our clients with the highest quality advise across the entire real estate spectrum. Our market leading construction team is a core part of this offering.\"

Hanson will be replaced as head of non-contentious construction at Ashurst by Ann Minogue, who joined Ashurst as a partner in 2009 from Linklaters.

Hanson\'s move marks the second real estate partner to leave Ashurst in a month, following the departure of former European real estate chief Simon Cookson to DLA Piper.
